On linoleum it’s a controlled two-pass cut — the first-pass blade and handle set a centered guide track, then the second-pass blade and handle finish precisely to full bonding depth, down to the jute backing, without tearing or gouging. Either way the depth stops being a judgment call; it’s built into the tool, and it comes out the same from every hand on the crew.
